Another of my short stories is to be published, again by the nice folks at Route. ‘Trying to find Van Breukelen’ will appear in a new collection in the forthcoming months. Originally called ‘The Death of the Flower Girl’, it was short listed out of 240 for the Three Cities Connect writing competition.
On the novel front, I am currently editing down ‘This is all I know’ for Route. The first draft was 180,000 words and has been edited down to 130,000. I am now trying to edit it down to 100,000. I think I have stated before that losing words is probably more important than writing them and so the novel is slowly sharpening up. This is consuming all my time and so all other writing has been put on hold until this had finished. The publication date is spring 2007.
Chav news – Lars the Norwegian journalist came through with his Chav article. It looks fantastic but unfortunately it is in Norwegian. My brother in law will translate for me when I visit the land of Fjords next and I’ll update it on the website.
