Greenpeace Whale campaign

To a rational and compassionate mind there is no need to explain why the senseless waste of life is wrong – be it humans, animals or nature. Unfortunately governments tend to forget this, quite regularly, and therefore a visual reminder is required. Greenpeace, a non profit organisation who answer to the world rather than shareholders, are currently campaigning to stop Korea becoming a whaling nation like their Japanese neighbours. The whale being yet another endangered species. To do this they are asking people to make a virtual protest. This can be done by following this link http://whales.greenpeace.org/2137.htm

As Jim Wickens, one of the whale campaigners out there on the front line writes ‘on April 10th Greenpeace and the Korean Federation for Environmental Movement (KFEM), the most influential NGO in Korea, established the “Whale Embassy”, right near the brand new Jangsaengpo Whale Museum that might be better called as the “Whaling Museum”. The Embassy has been built on the ground where a whale processing factory is proposed to be built. I can’t imagine a more bizarre argument – “We’re protecting whales by establishing a whale meat factory” – can you?

By spending two minutes making your views known, you could help save up to an estimated 2100+ deaths. Or you could spend two minutes gazing into shop windows at clothes…

As always, time is of the essence. On the 19th June, the International Whaling Commission (IWC) will come to Ulsan, Korea, to decide the fate of the whales. Make sure you help them make the right decision.
